The Techniques Used In Conversational Hypnosis

by Wendell John-Baptiste on June 26, 2010

In order to learn conversational hypnosis, you must first learn about people and how they interact. Some people are more resistant and they will show that in their body language while others may well be more receptive and reflect that. Depending on their state of mind, you may need to help them relax or not.

Conversational hypnosis differs from the more conventional direct hypnosis in that you do not talk about feeling sleepy or issue commands. It is believed that we often go into natural trance states anyway, whether we are focusing on a task or waiting to get on the bus. This is normally when if we are interrupted we talk about drifting off or forgetting where we are.

From a very young age, he was diagnosed with polio and spent many years bed ridden. Over time, he turned this situation to his advantage, learning non verbal communication by observing the people who would visit him.

At the end of the season, one of the players was asked the secret behind their success. He revealed that when the new coach came in, he told them that they would win the league. This message was repeated and emphasized throughout the season and this had inspired them, even through difficult games.

However it is not just the words but the tone in which they are delivered. At all points, it is about maintaining confidence and control. Bringing in so called hot words can direct someone to an emotional state. For example, the word baby is more emotionally powerful than infant. There are also certain words that if used in the right way a person can be induced into a state. Words such as focus, amazement, deep and fascinate will help put people into the right state of mind.

It is important to recognise when a person is in a trance state, as this can waste time if you have already persuaded them. One method is to encourage people to move their head down and give them a small nudge downwards to emphasize their stance.

There are numerous methods that are taught to help with different processes. The PCAT formula is used to help with personal change. If a person is going through a bad relationship or has just been through a painful divorce, this could help overcome their psychological issues.

If on the other hand they want to become better sales people, then the COMILA formula would be more appropriate. There are numerous videos on the internet that illustrate this kind of technique, using positive images like keys, butterflies emerging from a chrysalis and an emphasis on a positive mental attitude. This is also the case with techniques like the LIFE checklist.

Once you have mastered the COMILA formula you will be shown the LIFE checklist, four steps that show you how to quickly identify that someone has entered a trance state and thus there is no need to waste time with unnecessary talk. Having learned these techniques, many people find this makes their lives better as they learn powers of persuasion. See if it works yourself!
