Our Take on the Program

Valerie Dawson’s program is more about visualization than it is about hypnosis. It’s unclear to me what hypnotic tools she is even using here (and I haven’t yet had a chance to explore her program). Depending on what you are looking for, I can see how this might be appealing. That said, I have concerns about how she’s going about delivering on “The Hidden Secret” in terms of whether or not it will truly benefit you.

The program consists of several different audio recordings, and each audio is intended to help you visualize your way to “getting” something specific. For example the first audio is about attracting money. Then there’s one for attracting your dream car. Yet another for the dream home. Another for attractive travel and leisure. You’d think that money can BUY all of those other things right? So why do we need separate audios? If the money audio does its job, why do I need an audio to help me get a car or a house? This is what really bugs me.

Valerie’s qualifications: She has a Master’s degree in social work, and she’s a certified hypnotherapist (CHt designation). I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the CHt designation because anyone can earn this designation without a lot of work, and it doesn’t prove that you actually understand hypnosis. Most hypnotists are taught to follow standard procedures and read hypnotic scripts. This is ineffective in my opinion. Ericksonian and NLP tools are far more effective in creating change (even during a visualization exercise).

The price of $97 is not insanely high, but you can get a copy of Dr. Mike Mandel’s “Peak Performance” CD for $24.95 and I personally believe that this is a way better investment. Hypnosis is a general tool that YOU (the subject) can decide to apply to a variety of “problems” or “goals”. This is why I much prefer a product like Mandel’s as opposed to Valerie Dawson’s approach (and many other hypnotists’ approach) of using a specific audio for a specific problem. It’s just not necessary!

Valerie Dawson, MSW, CHt Certified Hypnotherapist. She has been a counselor and hypnotherapist for over 18 years. She says that she has a very high success rate, and is only one of a handful of therapists in teh US who has a masters degree as well as hundreds of hours of advanced training in hypnosis. I don’t know exactly what advanced training she has done, and her master’s degree is in social work – so not really applicable to what her clients need help with.
