Ten Steps On How To Hypnotize Someone

by Michelle Anders on August 1, 2010

Most old films depict hypnosis as something so mysterious and powerful. It is often re-enforced by the image of an evil hypnosis who waves his pocket watch back and forth someone’s eyes until they ripple to oblivion. Hypnotized people are presented as if they have become slaves of the the hypnotist.

But modern understanding of hypnotism describes it as a science of inducing suggestions into the free will of a man. People being hypnotized do not lose their free will, meaning, they respond to suggestions made by the hypnotist out of their own wills. The hypnotist only makes their imaginations very active to a point of diminishing inhibitions. Hypnosis is not so hard a process is. You can even try hypnotizing your friends by following the tips on how to hypnotize someone provided below:

1. You only need to make sure that your subject has concentration and relaxation. They should also have an expectation of what should happen so that your suggestions become more effective.

2. Your hypnotized subjects will respond more effectively to your suggestions if they have trust and confidence in you. Tell your subjects what to believe and what to expect once you hypnotize them. What you tell them before you hypnotize them is more important than what you tell them during the induction of hypnotism itself.

3. Ask how much your subject knows about hypnotism. This will necessarily help you assess how to deal with your subject’s psyche.

4. Do not fail to let your subject know at least the basics of hypnotism. Tell them how the procedure will go. Assure your subjects that you will now make them do something they don’t wan to do or have them answer questions they would have not answered have they been outside hypnotism.

5. Know relevant answers to frequently asked questions about hypnotism. By appearing to know many things about what you are putting your subjects into will help you establish trust.

6. If you are ready to proceed, ask you subject to kindly sit or lie in the most comfortable way possible. Keep anything that can provide great disturbance and distractions like mobile phones, televisions and other gadgets.

7. Now have your subject close her or his eyes and drive him and her into imagining being in their own happy place.

8. Use a “hypnotic” voice simultaneous with the breathing of your subject. Speak slowly in a low and soothing voice. Instruct your subject to relax and feel his or her breathing. Continue instructing until the instructions become suggestions. Eventually make your suggestions more directives until the induction process reaches its conclusion.

9. Now you may start giving suggestions which are inclined to harboring answers to the questions you want to ask your subject. Focus on achieving the goal why the hypnosis is made in the first place.

10. To end the session, simply tell your subject to stop imagining. You may do this by suggesting to them that in five counts they will get out from the hypnosis or through finger snaps.
