It certainly speaks the way you welcome the person you are meeting, the way you feel for them may also affect the way you handshake. It should be firm but friendly. Do not get the handgrip too firm for it may make them feel that you are an aggressive type of person. You should be able to practice the correct way of doing so.
The number one rule for a social success is the fact that you can remember that names of the person that you meet. A name is very important to a person. Remembering it would surely make them feel important and remembered.
