Hypnosis is a powerful tool that everyone should have some knowledge about because we use it practically on a daily basis and most often we have no idea we are actually using it. People have used hypnosis to make substantial changes in their lives. Through hypnosis, you can visualise and achieve your life goals, remain calm in stressful situations and change your attitude for a better you.
The principles of hypnosis is easy to understand and once you gain access to this knowledge, you can apply it to cure or improve many medical conditions, stop bad habits and reduce anxieties and fears. Most medical conditions are treated with drugs and some of these have unpleasant and serious side effects. In some of these conditions, using hypnotherapy is a better and superior option. Hypnosis changes information in the unconscious mind for lasting benefits.
Some people find it difficult to accept hypnotherapy. They are reluctant because they have seem individuals made fools of by stage hypnotists and do not want to lose control. An experienced and understanding hypnotist can help to reassure by explaining precisely what happens during the treatment. Alternatively they can try self hypnosis. During a hypnotic session, a good hypnotist will put you into a deep relaxed state. This enables him to use powerful post-hypnotic suggestions. It is also true that in most cases you do not need to get down to such levels of relaxation to achieve excellent results. By acquiring a good self hypnosis technique, you will relax into a satisfactory level for excellent results.
A good alternative to seeing a hypnotherapist is self hypnosis. To practice this, you need to find a time and place when you are not likely to be disturbed. Make sure you are comfortable. Either sit on a chair or sofa or lie on the floor. Support your head. Fix your eyes on an object at eye level and try to remove all thought from your mind.
Focus on your breathing. Take slow deep breaths. It is best to inhale through your mouth and exhale through your nostrils. While concentrating on your breathing, begin to relax your body. You can start with your toes and progressively relax your entire body by slowly moving up until you reach the head. See yourself going down a staircase and imagine you are going down into a deeper and deeper sleep with every step you take down.
When you are satified that you are in a good relaxed sleep, anchor this happy state by associating it to a specific object or word. If you continue to practice this, one day you will be able while fully awake to reproduce this relaxed state by thinking about this object or word.
You can buy self hypnosis CDs on the Internet for all sort of illness. I agree that there is a place for these recordings but recording your own self hypnosis script is much better because it will address you specific needs. You can make a long list of the things you need addressing and include them all in your script then make your recording and burn it onto a CD and listen to it while you relax.
At the end of the self hypnosis session, it is time to wake up. You do this by counting up from one to five and tell yourself that as you count up, so you are gradually waking up and at five you will wake up and will be wide awake, calm and relaxed. Keep doing your self hypnosis session regularly and the more you do it, the better you be get at it.
