Hypnotherapy As A Means To Manage Stress

by Lauren Taylor on August 10, 2010

According to studies, three fourths of us undergo stressful situations at least once every two weeks. Half of these people experience at least moderate stress at least once a week. In short, a good percentage of the world is under stress. There’s no escaping stress for most of us. Finances, personal life and work life are among the leading stressors for a lot of us. A lot of Westerners, especially, are stressed out by work-related issues. Stress is unhealthy, but there are means for us to reduce this.

Stress plays a large part in the proliferation of heart disease, strokes and high blood pressure. To top it off, stress can weaken one’s immune system and lead to an inability to ward off diseases that can normally be avoided. As you can see, too much stress can lead to life-threatening situations and even death. Assistance in alleviating stress could go a long way in extending one’s life and improving one’s health.

Aside from the conventional means, hypnosis is a good way to minimize stress. This is because hypnosis works on one’s subconscious. Hypnotists work to inculcate positive thoughts and ideas, motivating the client to emerge from the session with a new set of thoughts and mental outlook. Clients would be asked to imagine themselves free of any pressure in their lives. Once successful, the client would emerge with a better mental state and feeling less pressured. It may not be conventional stress management, but a lot can testify to its positive effect.

Hypnosis’ first aim is to relax the client to the point of absolute comfort. Once the client is in this comfortable state, this is where the hypnotist opens the mind to new ideas and positive suggestions. Then the positive ideas would be made more specific towards the therapist’s main goal of helping his or her client beat stress. This would be achieved by the client being able to handle his or her personal or business life without having to be stressed. The rest – good physical and mental health – should follow.

Better self-esteem, more optimistic thinking and increased happiness are three important after effects of hypnosis. Lives have been changed drastically for the better thanks to hypnosis. There should be many trained hypnotherapists in your area who’d be willing to help should you be interested. You’re sure to find out that a hypnotherapist can help you manage stress better and then some.
