I saw a Scratch on Your car. Who Knows who did it.
Make sure to capitalize Scratch, Your and Knows (you’re emphasizing them to stand out). You’re providing a embedded command to your sender to scratch their nose. Don’t be concerned with knows and nose. They are phonetically ambiguous and the brain still process the visual. Now, see if they scratch their nose while they are reading the text.
How people respond to communication is what NLP is all about. NLP practitioners use observations to determine which communications prompt the desired outcome and which ones don’t. New communication patterns are then developed for the patient. Programs such as stop smoking and losing weight utilize principles of NLP to create new responses to external influences.
When you communicate to other people, you communicate using your body, eyes, tone of voice, pace of speech and the speed of your breath. Many times not all of these are congruent and we end up sending multiple messages. Sometimes these messages actually conflict with what our verbal intent. What if you could get all these parts of your body and mind in sync and communicate what you really mean?
Can you tell if a salesperson is desperate? Most likely, and that doesn’t make you feel comfortable buying from them. What about your partner? Even when they are telling you everything is all right, you can see their shoulders tense up and you know things aren’t right. What about the shy kid at school? Does the teacher think he’s ambivalent to the lessons since he afraid to participate?
With miscommunication everyone loses. People picked up poor communication patterns through unsuccessful interactions with friends and family. They are destructive and at best unproductive.
Fully communicating your intent is what NLP helps out with. Since everyone has their own set of experiences, NLP is not just a cookie cutter solution. It must be tested and revised for each person. But, with the help of NLP, you can start to see the communication patterns that happen between yourself and others. From there, you will be able to study their reactions to your new communication styles. This is valuable feedback on the path toward improvement.
