The two major factors that you should consider in choosing a proper hypnotherapy training are the reputation and the ethical standards of the training program. Regardless of your reason for enrolling – whether out of sheer curiosity or some necessity – being aware of the different key areas for a good hypnotherapy program is important to make sure that it will suit you best.
Listed below are a few tips. These are just a few of the several important points that you should keep in mind in order to make sure that you get an excellent training program as much as possible.
1. Make sure that the establishment is fully accredited.
One way of knowing if an establishment is decent is being accredited or affiliated with a respectable external body or firm. If a training institute comes with full accreditation from a bigger reliable body, it is very likely that their training is reliable as well. An accreditation will also assure you that the institution have met the standards in training and follows the right procedures.
When you call an establishment, do not hesitate to ask for some company background. You can also ask for some references or for actual feedbacks from previous students. A decent training school will entertain questions warmly.
2. Make sure that they teach Clinical Hypnosis, not Pop Hypnosis.
After knowing about the training institution, check their curriculum next. Clinical hypnosis is a completely different thing from Pop or Stage Hypnosis.
Although being able to do a bit of pop hypnosis might be necessary for certain situations, say when customers ask for a few tricks, remember that your goal for training in Hypnosis is to help people and not to make fun of them.
3. Make sure that you can complete the entire duration of the training.
Hypnotherapy training requires a lot of time, attention and money. Assess yourself first what type of training program will work best for you – a shorter and a lesser intensive training (usually train for a weekend), or a longer and more intensive one (taking as much as a few years to finish).
Learning all the skills of a full-fledged hypnotherapist is impossible to do over one weekend alone. So be very careful with institutions who offer a “real” hypnotherapy training for just a very short span of time.
However, completing an entire training program in some training institution will not make you a complete hypnotherapist if you do not apply what you have learned. Theory alone will not suffice; you will need practical experience. So choose an institution that will expose you to both worlds – the practical and theoretical aspects of hypnotherapy.
